Utility Room Installation & Under-Stairs Storage — Farmhouse Renovation

SP Joinery Solutions LTD recently completed progress work on a farmhouse renovation, installing a new utility room, starting bespoke under-stairs storage, and preparing the ground floor with fresh screeding ready for its final flooring finish.

The project forms part of a wider home renovation where practical storage, durable materials, and efficient use of space were key priorities.

The Brief

The goal was to create a functional utility area within the farmhouse while improving storage throughout the ground floor. This included installing fitted cabinetry for the utility room and making use of the often-wasted space beneath the staircase.

At the same time, the floor was prepared with new screeding to ensure a solid and level base ready for the next stage of the renovation.

Key priorities included:

Utility Room Installation

The new utility room was fitted with bespoke cabinetry and worktops to provide a clean and practical laundry space. The layout was designed to maximise functionality while keeping everything neat and organised.

The utility units were supplied by Magnet Trade, providing durable cabinetry suited to everyday use.

Works included:

• Installation of fitted utility cabinetry
• Worktop fitting and finishing
• Appliance space preparation
• General joinery adjustments for a clean finish

Under-Stairs Storage

The renovation also included starting a bespoke storage solution beneath the staircase. This area is often unused in many homes, so converting it into fitted shelving helps maximise valuable storage space.

Works included:

• Measuring and framing the under-stairs storage area
• Creating fitted shelving compartments
• Preparing the area for final finishing

Floor Preparation

As part of the wider renovation, the ground floor was also screeded to create a level base ready for its final floor covering.

Materials for this stage of the project were supplied by MKM, ensuring the build had the right structural preparation before flooring installation.

The Result

With the utility room installed, under-stairs storage underway, and the floor prepared for its final finish, this farmhouse renovation is progressing well. The work completed so far provides a practical and well-organised foundation for the next stages of the project.
